Make-Work-Draw-Play: nerfgun

Made partially for fun and partially for a game I was playing with friends, this is an improved nerf rifle. Its powered by a simple bike pump, and air is released via a sprinkler valve. With a sliding bolt on the barrel, it takes 1-2 seconds to load a nerf dart, then after 3-10 seconds after that to pump the chamber up. At 5 pumps, a nerf dart will fly faster and straighter than many commercial nerf guns, at 12 pumps, the rifle has a usable range of 160 ft, with an accuracy of 5 in. at 30 ft.

Technology

I've always been interested in the way things work, and have been taking apart anything i can get my hands on ever since i learned how to use a screwdriver.

These projects that i've built vary in complexity and scale, and though many of them may seem whimsical or nonsensical in nature, i try to learn or take something out of each one. In addition, these projects are in a way an application of the things that I've learned, as well as signifying the experience they brought through their creation.

Art

I've been drawing and painting ever since I was a child, and I've continued to create artwork as a pastime. I took drawing lessons for a year and a half at GAGE of Seattle, other than that, I learned everything on my own. I work with charcoal, pencil, ink, watercolor, and acrylics, as well as digital media. I also work in 3D, primarily using Blender. Most of my 3d work is done on low polygon budgets. I'm also the graphics editor and draw for my school newspaper, The Roosevelt News.

Music

Music has always been a large part of my life: I play two instruments- piano and trumpet. I've played piano for 10 years, and trumpet for 8. I play both jazz and classical on both instruments. I play piano for myself at home, but I play trumpet in the second Roosevelt Jazz Band. I have also played in the Roosevelt Symphonic Band, as well as the Roosevelt Symphonic Orchestra.
